The new school has been built by the kindness of the Samaritan Foundation, but no organization is presently funding operations of the school. Tuition is charged to students if they are able to afford it, but many cannot, so these fees cover less than half of the operating expenses. The balance is covered by gifts that are sincerely appreciated.
If you would like to donate to the Nidito De Amor school, your gift will be a help in providing:
- school supplies: school books, notebooks, pencils, etc.
- uniforms: shoes, socks, school bags.
- payroll of the teachers, principal, and other staff.
- operational and administrative expenses of the school
If you wish to donate you may do so by sending a cheque to Jaime Alonzo's Canadian contact (either USD or CAD is fine). One hundred percent of your donation will be forwarded to Jaime Alonzo. None will be kept for administration by those collecting funds and operating the web site. The contact is:
39 Main Street E.
Smiths Falls, ON
K7A 1A3
E-mail - mitton@bellnet.ca
Phone: 613-283-9650
You may also donate to the school directly, if you wish, but mailing donations is unsafe, so we have found that it is best to send funds via Moneygram. Moneygram offices can be found at most Canada Post outlets, or by using the 'Find Us' button at www.moneygram.ca. Simply fill out a form directing the Moneygram to 'Jaime Alonzo, Sosua, Dominican Republic', and you will be given a reference number. Send an e-mail to Jaime Alonzo (info@niditodeamor.org), giving him the reference number. He can then pick up the funds at any bank near him, within hours. There is a fee for sending funds, but no charge to Jaime when the funds are collected.
At the moment, it is not possible to offer tax receipts for donations sent in either of these ways.
